QUESTION:

Is the goal of mind training or meditation to have no thoughts?

Such a beautiful question!

So many people — especially those who are just beginning the path of meditation, forgiveness, and mind training — believe that the goal is to stop thinking altogether.

They believe we are asked to silence the mind, to get rid of the ego, to become empty.

They think the void — the space of no thought — is the goal.

And while it is true that we want to release ego thoughts, the real purpose of meditation and mind training is not to have no thoughts.

Instead — It is to think with God.

You were not created to be empty.
You were created to be filled — with light, with love, and with divine guidance and wisdom.

That guidance does not come through thinking against God. It comes by thinking with Him.

If you’ve ever felt confused about what you’re aiming for in your spiritual practice, this episode is for you.

Is Meditation and Mind Training Meant To Stop My Thoughts?

MY ANSWER:

There is a big misunderstanding that the goal is to have no thoughts.

It’s easy to see where this idea comes from. When you first begin noticing the ego, you see how noisy it is — how judgmental, anxious, and reactive it can be.

The ego tends to speak loudly and quickly, and it’s natural to want that fast-paced thinking mind to grow quiet.

Many spiritual seekers — and many Course students — assume the answer is to get rid of thinking altogether. So they aim for stillness, silence, even a void.

But what I have seen is this:

The goal is not to have no thoughts.

The goal is to stop thinking with the ego — and begin thinking with God.

In other words, to think with love rather than fear.

Because my friends… you do think. We all think. We all have thoughts.

The real question is: Who are you thinking with?

So, It’s Not About Stopping My Thoughts?

It’s not about not thinking.

It’s about who you are thinking with — ego or God, love or fear.

The ego’s voice is fear-based. It is chaotic, scattered, and judgmental. God’s voice is peaceful, certain, and unified.

The ego leads you in circles. The Holy Spirit leads you home to peace.

So this is not about erasing thought — it is about replacing the ego’s thoughts with truth.

And the more you practice this, the more you begin to realize something beautiful:

God’s thoughts are already in your mind. Already in your heart.

They are simply waiting to be heard, received, and accepted.

If I Had No Thoughts… How Would I Live?

This distinction matters deeply.

Because if the goal were truly to have no thoughts:

  • How would you live?
  • How would you respond to a loved one?
  • What would you talk about?
  • What would you care about in your daily life?
  • How would you create, serve, love, write a book, or respond to life’s events

You are not meant to be guided by nothing.
You are meant to be guided by Spirit — which speaks on behalf of everything.

Spirit is our inner teacher. The voice for God. It knows what to say. It guides how we care for the body, for others, and for the world. It is how we co-create, serve, love, and respond with peace.

The Holy Spirit — the higher Self, the divine mind — is the voice we are learning to listen to in place of the ego.

Guidance is here all the time. We simply purify the mind so we can recognize it.

What Will Happen When The Ego Finally Goes Quiet?

When the ego grows quiet, we do not fall into a void of boredom or nothingness.

We become led.

The intuition, the soul, the Holy Spirit — the voice of love — always has your best interest at heart.

Unlike the ego, which chases many competing goals — control, approval, security, survival — the Holy Spirit has only one goal for you:

Love.

Love is your well-being.

Love is your peace.
Love is your awakening.

And because there is only one goal, you are far more likely to reach it when Spirit is guiding you.

This is why A Course in Miracles tells us:

“You will be told all you need to know.”

Not because you stop functioning or stop thinking — but because you stop deciding alone.

Will My Decisions Become Easier When I Stop Thinking With The Ego?

If you need to look both ways before crossing the street, you will be prompted.

If you need to rest, speak, leave, forgive, act, or wait — you will be guided within.

So again — this is not about stopping thought. It is about no longer thinking on your own with the ego.

We stop letting fear decide.
We stop letting past conditioning decide.
We stop letting the ego’s noisy voice decide.

Instead, we make decisions with God.

And when we do, A Course in Miracles tells us that decisions become as easy — and as natural — as breathing.

Because we are cooperating with our Creator instead of trying to live apart from Him.

The Space I Fear Is Actually Full of Possibility?

Yes, there is a time when the ego fades into the background.

But what opens in its place is not a void — it is potentiality.

In that open space, anything is possible. It is where God’s will — which is love — fills the space once occupied by the ego.

Now this shift does not happen overnight. Until we consistently trust that loving voice within, we need mind training.

We are not trying to destroy the mind. We are retraining it. We do not try to stop thinking — we learn to observe our thoughts.

We unlearn the ego’s interpretation so we can remember the truth.

This is not about effort. It is about willingness. Listening. Practice.

Slowly, gently, faithfully, you begin to recognize the difference between the voice that rushes, panics, and demands — and the voice that reassures, clarifies, and brings peace.

One creates conflict. The other brings certainty.

One is made by us. The other is given to us by God.

Why Is “Not Knowing Anything” the Safest Place To Be?

The space of not knowing — that open field of potential — is not failure.

It is not depression. It is a doorway.

This past Sunday I went live on YouTube with a teaching called “You Are Safe in the Not Knowing.” (linked below)

Because here is what happens…

  1. We deconstruct the ego.
  2. We release old religious frameworks, false ideologies, traumas, and pains.
  3. And then suddenly — we realize we don’t know anything anymore.

We don’t know how to heal this.
We don’t know how to shift from ego to love.

It can feel disorienting.

But this is the very space where miracles happen.

We Are Meant to Be Filled with Love, Not Emptiness

It is where truth is revealed. Where confusion is laid down. Where clarity rises.

If you can hold that space without rushing in… without rebuilding the ego… without forcing conclusions…

You allow certainty, peace, and healing to emerge from within.

So yes — it is safe to be in the not knowing. It is safe to be in the deconstruction.

But remember — we are not meant to remain in nothingness.

We become empty and open so that we may be filled with everything.

Because everything is God. Everything is the Kingdom. Everything reflects the truth of what you are.

You are love — and love is everything.

We want love to guide us, not nothingness… and not the ego of the past.

Blessings to you, beautiful soul, who are healing your mind and transforming your life on every level of your being.

I see you. You are not alone.

If you are in that difficult space of not knowing — if you are transitioning from ego to love — trust that you are exactly where you need to be.

You will not remain in the nothingness forever.

You are walking yourself forward into transformation — remembering the truth of what you are, the truth that created you, and the truth of what you are capable of here.

I am so excited for this new vision to dawn upon your mind and bring you peace in every way.

Thank you for being here and allowing yourself to receive the answer to this question.
