Here is what she asked:

QUESTION:

“What exactly did God create?

It seems our planet—with volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.—surely wasn’t His creation.

So how else did it come about?”

At the core, this question is really about what is real and what is illusion.

And this question isn’t just a scientific question.

It isn’t only theological.

It’s about who we believe God is…

what that means about us…and what we’re actually capable of.

So today, I’m going to help untangle this question through the lens of A Course in Miracles, with the goal of helping you release fear and step into the miracle of responsibility… and your true power on this planet.

What Did God Create?

MY ANSWER:

So… what did God create? This is a big question.

A Course in Miracles tells us something very clear:

God only creates what is eternal, changeless, whole, and loving.

So when Kathy tunes into that realization—
and feels like God couldn’t possibly create these things…She’s correct.

Reality is what God creates, and God only creates like Himself.

God is love.

God is whole.
God is complete.
God is eternal and changeless.

So tornadoes, volcanoes, hurricanes… those things don’t fit within that context.

God does not create anything that is unstable.
God does not create anything fear-based.
God does not create anything fragile.

Because those things are not eternal like Him.

They are not changeless like Him. They are not love like Him.

But God does create life. God created you.

He created the eternal part of you… the soul… what the Course calls the Spirit.

The heartbeat inside of you? That’s life.

The love you feel for others? That’s life.

That is God.

That is true vision—true seeing—true reality.

And in nature…
even in a tree…
even in an animal…
even in a quiet moment of stillness…

There is life there too.

And we can honor that life as a part of God.

So, There Is A Difference Between Form and Life?

Now, the physical form of the tree…
the physical form of the body…
the physical form of the volcano…

That is not of God. That is the vessel.

And A Course in Miracles calls that aspect the illusion. It is not reality.

If we think of ourselves as humans…we understand that our bodies are temporary.

The body changes constantly. It is perishable.

But the life inside the body? That is of God.

So yes—you could say there is life inside all things… and that life is shared with God.

But the destructive effects of a volcano…what the volcano does to the planet…That has nothing to do with God.

So let’s go deeper.

God Did Not Make This World?

God did not make this world. Flat out. I’m just going to say it.

We did.

We made it with a thought of curiosity…
to have an experience separate from God.

So we made it with the ego. We didn’t make it with God.

We made it in a split mind that was curious about what it would be like to be apart from Him.

So this world is literally a projection of our own curiosity… and fear.

We made it in forgetfulness of who we are, and what God has given us. We did it because we have unlimited power to create…and we became curious about creating worlds apart from God.

But the thing is…

We got stuck in the illusion.
We forgot that we made it.

We projected all our fears—

and even our power—onto God and we left ourselves with this tiny identity: a small body… born to die.

But the Course doesn’t teach that this is what life is for.

The Course says:

At first, the world is an illusion.
It’s a dream of separation.

And in that dream…we project everything we don’t like onto the world.

Which means:

Hurricanes, disasters, suffering…they come from the ego’s dream.

They come from the Son of God who has forgotten who he is—
not from God, and not from God’s plan.

Can God Use All The Things We Have Created?

Now here’s the good news.

Even though God didn’t create the dream…

He can still use everything within it.

He can use time.
He can use nature.
He can use tornadoes.
He can even use the body.

He can use anything to teach us to wake up.

To bring us home.
To bring us closer to each other.
To remind us to love our neighbors… and care for each other.

Because in each other… we find ourselves.
And when we find ourselves… we find God.

And that is the whole point of being on this planet:

To awaken to the memory that we are God’s Son—and that we have the power, the peace, and the ability to bring love and miracles to this world through us.

So it’s important to know:

God does not create the illusion…but He does offer us the correction to the illusion.

He offers us healing.
He offers us a better way.

Nature Responds to Me?

Now here’s a deeper shift.

Nature responds to us:

It isn’t idle.

It’s interactive.
It responds to our thoughts.
It responds to our beliefs.
It responds to our decisions.

We are the ones with dominion over it—
not the other way around.

So if our minds are filled with

fear…
attack…
guilt…
shame…
blame…
and “us versus them”…

then the world reflects that.

And we see it through:

  • extreme storms
  • destructive weather patterns
  • disasters
  • suffering

It’s like the world is shaking us and saying:

“There must be a better way.”
A better way of seeing yourself.
A better way of seeing God.
A better way of being with each other.

It becomes a wake-up call.
Because the world reflects our thoughts and our beliefs.

This is why Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that we are to be totally responsible for what happens. But responsibility does not mean blame.

Responsibility means:

You have the power. You have the ability to do something about it.

This is why Jesus teaches:

“I am responsible for what I think, what I feel, and what happens to me.”

Because if we are not responsible…
then we are victims. We’re at the mercy of the world.

But Jesus reminds us: No.

We have dominion over the world.
We have power over the world.

We made this world—

so we can return to our power…and allow the world to reflect what we truly want…instead of what we don’t want.

What
Will God Do, Then?

So this isn’t about God fixing the world.

God will not stop volcanoes.
God will not stop storms.
God will not fix the illusion for us.

But He will help us undo the illusion in our mind.
So we stop projecting what isn’t helpful.

And instead, we begin extending what is helpful:

Love.
Peace.
Purpose.

And then we begin to experience holy reflections—effects that feel like God—

like sunsets…
sunrises…
a cool breeze on a warm day…

These things can feel like sheltering effects of innocence, love, and connection.

So God is waiting on us to fix the world. And the only way we fix the world…is by changing our mind about it first.

God’s voice is waiting to come through you.
God’s plan is waiting to come through you.
God’s peace is waiting to come through you.

He needs us to execute His plan for peace. He needs you… and me… and all of us… to think with Him.

So while God didn’t create the storms… He is the still small voice that can guide you through the storm.

And through you…peace can be brought to your family, your neighbors, your community…and our world.

So, God Created Is Me?

So my beautiful soul…

I hope this brought more clarity and context to the question: What did God create?

God created you.

And that means you are the most powerful thing on the face of this planet.

You can move mountains.
You can end storms.
You can bring peace to this world through you— because you are one with God.

I hope this memory fills your heart and mind with peace.

And if you still feel like you’re grappling with these ideas… that is totally okay.
