Today’s question comes from Jody in my Workbook class.
What’s so beautiful is that three other people—both students and clients—asked almost the exact same question this week! Clearly, this is a theme moving through many hearts right now.

Here is what she asked:
QUESTION:
“How can I strengthen trust in God so I don’t have to go through so many emotions?”
What a sincere question.
That’s what we’ll be diving into today—how to deepen your trust in God, the universe, and yourself, so you no longer feel tossed around by the ups and downs of human emotion.
How Trust Brings Emotional Stability and Inner Peace
MY ANSWER:
A Course in Miracles tells us that trust is the foundation for all the other characteristics of God’s teachers.
There are other qualities like joy, patience, honesty, generosity, and open-mindedness. But trust is the bedrock.
Without trust, the others characteristics of Gods teachers can’t really grow.
If you don’t have trust, it’s hard to experience the lasting joy that comes from God. God’s joy that doesn’t depend on circumstances, opinions, or external outcomes.
With trust, your joy becomes steady. Without it, life feels like a rollercoaster—one day full of light, the next plunged into fear, anger, resentment, or shame.
True stability is built on trust—trust in God, in the Holy Spirit, in Jesus, in each other, and in yourself.
When that trust becomes real, miracles unfold naturally.
Is Trust Built On An Interactive God And Universe?
The first thing we must remember is that we live in an interactive universe.
This might sound new to some Course students.
We often hear that the world is a dream—which it is—but while we’re in this dream, we’re also participating in a living, responsive field of communication.
Our thoughts radiate outward, and what we give is received. Cause and effect are never separate.
When we truly grasp this, we realize that communication with the Divine isn’t just a spiritual idea—it’s an experience.
The universe is not silent. It responds.
Einstein once said that we must choose to see the universe as either hostile or friendly—either everything is a miracle, or nothing is.
We get to choose which lens we look through.
And when we choose to see everything—including ourselves—as miraculous, we open the door to real communication with God.
What Happens When I Ask God for a Trust Sign?
I once worked with a client who struggled deeply in her relationships.
Old trauma would surface in new connections, leaving her feeling triggered, alone, and afraid.
I invited her to experiment with this idea of an interactive universe.
I asked her to pick a symbol—something meaningful that could become a personal sign of God’s presence.
She chose deer. 🦌🦌🦌
Deer made her feel tender, safe, and loved.
So I told her:
“Ask God to show you a sign through deer—to remind you that you are not alone.”
A few days later, she called me, nearly in tears.
She had woken up earlier than usual, stepped outside with her little dog, and there—standing in her backyard—was an entire family of deer, including a baby fawn.
As a young mother herself, she instantly felt the message:
God was showing her she was not alone, that He was watching over her family.
From that day forward, she began to ask God for help—to see her partner clearly, to see herself through love instead of fear.
Her faith grew, her emotions softened, and her relationships began to heal.
Who Is The God I’m Learning To Trust?
Trust deepens when we remember who we are trusting.
We’re not asking favors from a distant universe. We are in relationship with the Life that lives in us—the Life that is God.
The Course says,
“There is one life, and I share it with God.”
God is love and only love.
He doesn’t change into judgment, punishment, or condemnation. He is unchanging Love itself.
When we forget this, fear takes over. But fear is learned—it is not what God created.
So when fear arises, we can consciously place it on the altar of our mind and say:
“I no longer want to see through fear. I want to see through love.”
That is forgiveness.
And forgiveness changes perception from fear to love.
We don’t do the forgiveness alone—the Holy Spirit does it through us. We simply offer the fear, and He transforms it.
We give our doubt, and He returns it as faith.
How Can I Start Practicing Trust Today?
Right now, think of a symbol that feels personal to you—a butterfly, a song lyric, a feather, a rainbow.
Ask God to show it to you in a way that feels undeniably real.
When you see it, let it remind you that God is love, and therefore, so are you.
Can Trust Really Transform My Emotions?
When we practice trust in this way—when we see evidence that the universe is interactive—our emotions begin to change.
Instead of being controlled by fear or doubt, we start placing those feelings on the altar too. They are gently transformed into peace.
Every act of trust, no matter how small, reshapes your inner world.
It changes your thoughts. It heals your emotions.
Start right where you are.
Let God show Himself to you in your everyday life—through parking spots, synchronicities, unexpected kindness, or moments of quiet peace.
This is how faith becomes certainty—through lived experience.
But wherever you are today, remember this:
Trust is available right now.
You can reach for it. You can try trust on.
And as you do, you’ll discover that you are not walking this path alone.
The quiet energy of love and guidance leads you to make better decisions each day. May peace replace your doubt.
And may you remember—you are loved, guided, and never alone.
How Do I Continue to Deepen My Trust?
If you feel ready to deepen your trust and your relationship with God, I invite you to join us every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Eastern for our Text Study Group.
It’s not just any study group.
It’s a sacred space where we come together as equals—to share, to ask, to be real.
The first half hour often feels like live action spiritual therapy.
People bring their questions, challenges, miracles, and wins, and together we explore them through A Course in Miracles and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The class is free, and donations are always welcome.
